Bookbanks would love your help.
Here are some ways that you can.
Volunteer with Bookbanks
We are looking for volunteers who have a background in books and a passion for talking about and widening access to them, to help look after our Bookbanks stalls inside food banks, starting this November, following an evening’s training in October. If you think this could be you, please fill in THIS FORM. We will be publicising future opportunities here and on social media, when they arise.
Fundraise for Bookbanks
We rely on fundraising efforts from individuals and organisations in order to bring books to food banks and create spaces for conversation, inspiration and community.
If you’d like to fundraise for Bookbanks, we would be thrilled! Please email us and we’ll send you our goals and some ideas.
Give to Bookbanks
We would welcome any financial donations to Bookbanks, to help us meet our aims to support our existing six sites and expand to partner with more food banks and reaching new communities throughout the UK.
Our grassroots structure means you’re making a real and immediate difference, using books to help change the story at food banks.
If you have books that you’d like to pass on, thank you so much for thinking of us. We are currently giving out 1,000 books every month.
We ask you to deliver your pre-loved books to our sites during their opening hours (you can find full details HERE). However, storage is at a premium at our partner food banks, so please don’t drop any books without emailing us first.
Please ensure the books are in really good condition - ask yourself would you be happy to gift it to a friend?
We currently have a particular need for:
General non-fiction, including history, memoir, how to books and self-help
Thrillers and crime fiction
Poetry anthologies
If you work for an organisation that is interested in making regular book donations, this would be wonderful! Please contact us here.
