Bookbanks would love your help.

Here are some ways that you can.

Partner with Bookbanks

Do you work or volunteer with a food bank, and think we could be a good fit?

Building on the successful partnerships forged with our first 6 food banks, we are now embarking on an exciting new phase of growth.

In the next 3-5 years, we plan to partner with 30 food banks across the UK, increasing the number of books we give out from 1,000 to 5,000 each month, and giving the charity a presence in 1% of the country’s food banks.

The charity’s expansion strategy will see it forge partnerships with food banks in six regional hubs.

If you think your food bank could be one of our next partners, we’d love to hear from you - please email Emily.

You can find more about what we provide and what we need when partnering with a food bank HERE.

Volunteer with Bookbanks

We are always looking for volunteers who have a background in books and a passion for talking about and widening access to them, to help look after our Bookbanks stalls inside food banks. Our next intake will be later this year, with a view to starting in early 2026. If you think this could be you, please fill in THIS FORM.

Fundraise for Bookbanks

We rely on fundraising efforts from individuals and organisations in order to bring books to food banks and create spaces for conversation, inspiration and community.

If you’d like to fundraise for Bookbanks, we would be thrilled! Please email us and we’ll send you our goals and some ideas.

Give to Bookbanks

If you have books that you’d like to pass on, thank you so much for thinking of us. We are currently giving out 1,000 books every month.

Currently, thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity, we are at capacity for books at all our partner food banks, where storage space is limited! However, we will be opening in new food banks in Spring 2026, and will certainly be needing more books then - if you can bear to hold on to them for another few months, please do check back in the New Year for more information about how to give us your books.

While tastes vary from food bank to food bank, we tend to have a particular demand for non-fiction, especially cookbooks, thrillers, poetry and children’s books - particularly 0-5.

If you work for an organisation that is interested in making regular book donations, this would be wonderful! Please contact Emily here.

We would welcome any financial donations to Bookbanks, to help us meet our aims to support our existing six sites and expand to partner with more food banks and reaching new communities throughout the UK.

Our grassroots structure means you’re making a real and immediate difference, using books to help change the story at food banks.
