From Running to Bookish Baking: 5 Fun Fundraising Ideas
It’s a cliche, but your local Bookbanks stall NEEDS YOU! It really does. We rely on the brilliant fundraising efforts of individuals and organisations to carry out our vital work, bringing books to food banks and creating spaces for conversation, inspiration and community.
It costs £6,000 a year to run a weekly Bookbanks stall inside a food bank, distributing thousands of books, running literary events for guests and providing over 200 hours of meaningful human connection and conversation time with our trained volunteers.
If you’d like to fundraise for Bookbanks, we would be thrilled! Email us and we’ll help with details and ideas, and you can find our Just Giving page HERE. In the meantime, if you’re looking for inspiration….
1. Run for Bookbanks - Challenge yourself and raise money for us too! Find out moreHERE.
2. Bike/Swim/Skydive/Hop for Bookbanks - Running not your thing? There are so many other events you might take part in (or even organise) to raise money for us. Find the one that appeals to you, and let us know how we can help.
3. Host a Bookbanks Readathon - Get your friends/colleagues/school involved too. Drop us a line, and we can share some of the most popular titles at your local Bookbanks site, for inspiration.
4. Hold a Bookbanks sale - Yet another great way to get friends and colleagues involved. It could be cake, it could be Christmas craft, or jumble…
5. Organise a Bookbanks Quiz - Get in touch with us if you’d like us to suggest some bookish or Bookbanks-themed questions. Could your team mates guess which title was the first to be taken at Bookbanks Euston last week, out of The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl, Killing Floor by Lee Child, or You Are Here by David Nicholls? How about which title sparked the longest ever conversation at Bookbanks Manchester Central? Some of our Bookbanks guests are also happy to develop some questions for you.
Bookbanks can also work with CSR teams to create meaningful experiences and activities for your staff - just email hello@bookbanks.co.uk
We’re transforing the experience of accessing a food bank into one of conversation and inspiration, and you can be part of the story.
